Six speeds are better than five..

Next to your engine the drivetrain is the most significant area that will affect the performance of the car. We have full on-site machine shop facilities and do a tremendous amount of drivetrain optimization work. All BMW's with the exception of the ix all wheel drive cars, are rear while drive. This means that you have three major components that make up the drivetrain, transmission, drive-shaft and rear differential. All of these items can be optimized for better performance and increased longevity.

Porsche 911's suffer from chronic shifter fork and synchronizer problems. We have done a number of modifications to these units to smooth out the shifting behaviors. Believe it or not BMW clutch's do wear out. When it comes time to have a clutch replaced consider having us take car of it. We use only BMW OEM specification parts and have the expertise to review the condition of the rest of the drivetrain while the clutch is being replaced. You might also want to consider the addition of a Short-Shift kit while the vehicle is being serviced.

The next major area of improvement is the differential. Have you considered upgrading to a limited slip differential. It makes a tremendous different just in the daily driveability of a BMW in inclement weather, it was usually included with most factory cold weather packages. If you have an existing Limited Slip Differential in a High performance BMW like an e36 M3, consider having a lower gear ratio installed to help your vehicle's acceleration. At the same time we can modify the differential itself to offer better holding power at higher horsepower levels.
