| 1980 BMW M1 BMW's first supercar. For those not familiar with the M1, it was a program that was undertaken with Lamborghini. BMW did all the drivetrain/powertrain work and Lamborghini built the bodies. These cars were manufactured from 1978 until 1981. This car is totally stock as it came from the factory to Nikolas Motorsport. While this car was in our possession it received a substantial tuning. The dual camshaft M motors require a meticulous time consuming valve adjustment. If they are not set correctly the car runs the risk of increasing camshaft wear or burning a valve, either way something you want to avoid. We made a few other minor modifications in the eternal search for horsepower. |

These cars feature the 3.5 liter 24 valve inline six motor, they are very similar to the engines that were used in the early M5 and M6 cars. In factory trim the produced close to 300 horsepower. BMW did campaign several of these cars and they were modified substantially for the racing series they competed in.
We fitted this particular BMW M1 with larger BBS wheels. Even though this is a collector car the owner still wanted to be able to enjoy his investment in the corners. |
